Who teaches the classes?
Debra McVicker; valedictorian of the 2001 class of The Culinary School at the Art Institute of Colorado. 

Who are these cooking classes designed for?
Anyone 18 years of age and up may attend. Cooking classes are perfect for anyone who wants to start the habit of cooking at home or just beef up their cooking skills. Our cooking classes are designed for anyone who wants to go from eating the food you make to enjoying the food you make.

  • Expand your variety of meals that you can make.
  • Impress someone you love with a romantic meal just for two.
  • Learn to feel comfortable cooking for larger groups.
  • Classes make a great gift for friends or loved ones.
  • Or a unique a team building exercise for businesses!

Are there any prerequisites?
No. You do not need to have any prior training in order to take our cooking classes.

Do I need to bring anything with me to the class?
You do not need to bring anything. Everything is provided that is needed to participate in the class. Just bring yourself and a willingness to learn. When appropriate, participants will receive recipes and suggestions for where to purchase ingredients.

How long is each class?
Basic Skills classes take about 3 hours.
Chef’s Table Signature classes take about 4 hours.

What is the cost of each class?
Basic Skills Series classes are held on Thursday afternoons and Friday evenings and are $60
Chef’s Table Signature Series classes are held on Sunday afternoons and are $85

What is taught in the Basic Skills classes?
The Basic Skills cooking classes focus on a particular dish. You will learn basic knife skills, cooking techniques, and various tasty dishes. Some of the topics covered in Basic Skills classes we've held in the past:

  • Knife Skills and Pantry Soups
  • Meals to Make and Freeze for Later
  • Gifts from the Kitchen
  • Salads and Vinaigrette
  • Omelets and Frittatas
  • Sautés and Pan Sauces
  • Pickles (more than just cucumbers!)
  • Pâte à Choux (Cream Puffs)
  • Homemade Gnocchi and Ravioli
  • Homemade Cheeses

What is taught in the Chef’s Table Signature classes?
In our Chef’s Table Signature Series, we design an entire meal with wine pairing. The following are are the examples of Chef's Table Signature classes we've held in the past:

  • Romantic Dinner for Two
  • Grilled Lamb
  • Northern Italian Cuisine
  • Southwestern France
  • The Best Roast Chicken You've Ever Had
  • Schnitzel, Sauerbraten and Spatzle
  • A Taste of Italy

How do I a book a class?

How many people are in each class?
All classes are groups of 4 to 7 people and are purposely limited so that each person can fully participate in this hands-on cooking experience.

Do you have classes for kids?
Classes are for adults age 18 and up because we ask that each student participates in class and learn to use the appropriate tools, such as knives.

Where are the classes held?
Classes are held at the Debra’s home to provide a comfortable atmosphere and makes for a realistic experience.

You may also host a "Pop-up Cooking Class" at Debra’s home or your own. Debra services Colorado Springs, Denver, and Castle Rock.
